E + E Podcast Episode 44: Battling Perfectionism + Navigating Working Motherhood With @momwell

Listen to Episode 44

“So trying to live up to perfectionist standards when you don’t control the schedule or how sleep deprived you are or the temperament or  challenges of the little human that is also a factor now in all of this is a recipe for some chaos and some uncertainty.”

— ERICA DJOSSA, MA

ABOUT THE EPISODE

Maternal mental health is what our guest Erica Djossa specializes in. She is a registered psychotherapist with over a decade of experience. Erica is the founder of Momwell - a mom centered virtual therapy service for every stage of motherhood.

In this episode we discuss why we often have unattainable goals in motherhood and Erica explains how we are living in the era of intensive mothering. Perfectionism is a constant battle for many of us moms whether or not we work in or outside of the home. We set such high standards for ourselves because oftentimes we were able to operate at a very high threshold pre-children. Erica helps break down this misconception that we can continue to hold ourselves to such high standards in every aspect of our lives.

Anxiety is a hot topic in motherhood. But what red flags should we look for to be able to tell when anxiety is becoming a problem? Erica normalizes that depression and anxiety can happen to anyone. Even she herself, as someone who works in this profession, has suffered from these concerns.

We know you are going to love this conversation just as much as we enjoyed having it. Please share this episode on social media and tag both @expectinganempowered and @momwell.
