Occupy Baby during Workouts!

IF your babe does wake up or is awake while working out here are some exercises to have them try. We want you to be able to get your workout!

  • 2-6 months

    • Pre-crawling pivot play: lay baby on stomach and place toys at the end of arm length in semicircle. Have babe start on one side and work from left to right or vice versa.

    • Foot rattles: place rattle on babies foot and lay baby on back.

    • Dangle chain- hang a visually appealing toy from above baby as they lay on their back. Place it at a height they can touch but not rip it off

    • Glow bottle: Lay baby on belly facing the bottle. Put a mini flashlight inside a colored water bottle and have them play with it.

  • 6-12 months

    • Baby squats: have the baby squat down as you do each exercise. This keeps them involved and helps strengthen the child’s legs.

    • Self care basket: place a basket in front of baby. The basket should be filled with common items that baby needs to learn such as, socks, tooth brush, comb, and small towels.

    • Rings: Take a spoon or spatula out of the kitchen and put some play rings around them and then give to the baby. Have baby attempt to take them off with their off hand that is not holding the item. This works on babies grip strength and hand eye coordination.

  • 1-2 years

    • Ball pit: this requires a buying a ball pit or taking a large tub and filling with ball the child cannot fit into mouth

    • Coloring books

    • Sticky note reach: Have the child draw on a couple sticky notes and then stick them right above arm reach when on flat foot. Then have them go back and forth taking them all down and them putting them all back up on the wall. This is great for calf strength and good hand-eye coordination.

    • Fort: Create a fort out of blankets or in an old box they can write on.

  • 3+

    • Obstacle course: Take some painters tape and create an obstacle course for them to bounce around, or they can act like the tape is lava.

    • Children workout equipment: Purchase a small set of children’s plastic weights so they can do the workout with you.
