Tailbone Pain

Falling, too much sitting, tense or tight pelvic floor muscles and childbirth can all cause tailbone pain. The tailbone is a key structure, and when it gets malaligned your pain can go from a minor annoyance to a major issue. Most of the time people do not relate the pelvic floor with the tailbone but they are actually connected, which can tug on the tailbone, causing pain. Pain can occur when sitting, getting up from a chair or when contracting your glutes. Tailbone dysfunction can show up in many other ways including SI pain, pubic symphysis pain or hip pain.

The video below shows you how to assess, re-align, and release your tailbone yourself. If you have trouble doing it yourself or just want more help, then I would recommend making an appointment with a women’s health PT. They can help fix any type of tailbone pain or issue you may be having.
